Our fitness struggles are just as much spiritual struggles as they are physical.

I'm going to tell you something you maybe never thought about before. 

Putting on the Full Armor of God should also be applied to our fitness. Yep that's what I said.

Our fitness struggles are just as much spiritual struggles as they are physical. 

When you’ve had one of those days…Kids are crazy, stress at work, money doesn't go far enough, rocky relationship, or car trouble…what do you reach for? What is your typical reaction? Do you reach for some chocolate? Wine? Maybe pizza?  Do you go collapse on the couch and give up on your workout or that walk you need?

These are all understandable reactions, but what are they really at the core? When we reach for food and comfort, instead of Jesus, we are assigning a role and a meaning to things that only Jesus was meant to fulfill.

When we give into lethargy rather than exercising our bodies, we trade healthy for lazy.  We ignore the healthy outlet God gave us for relieving stress and replace It with an unproductive behavior that actually just makes it worse. It compounds it.

Instead of seeking more Jesus, we escape in front of the TV, leaving our spirits thirsty and starving.

What are your habits?  Food, drink, TV and relaxing are not the issue.  It's when you go to them instead of Jesus that you are setting yourself up for failure. 

So if you are struggling in your fitness journey, spend time in prayer and ask God to show you the habits you need to change and the courage to change them. Ask him to reveal to you the seemingly innocent temptations that the enemy is using to sabotage your progress.

Keep this verse in your heart.
